Space2School keeps Colorado Springs space learning moving during a museum closure
The Discovery Center's education team points groups toward off-site learning and advance planning for 2027 field trips.

Space education does not have to wait for a museum visit. The Space Foundation Discovery Center's field-trip information directs schools to Space2School while the center is closed, bringing hands-on learning to classrooms instead of asking groups to rely on older public visiting hours.
The program uses space themes to connect science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The center describes its educational approach as hands-on and aligned with Next Generation Science Standards. Schools and other eligible educational groups should contact the reservation team to determine which off-site options fit their students, location and schedule.
The same page announces that January–May 2027 Discovery Center field trips are open for booking. That is an invitation to plan ahead, not confirmation that ordinary walk-in visits have resumed. PPLD's Culture Pass listing also currently identifies a renovation closure. Check the center's latest access notice directly before arranging an in-person trip.
Bring a specific learning objective to the planning conversation. Testing a design, interpreting a result or revising a model can connect an engaging space theme to classroom work. Ask about duration, group size, costs and accessibility for the chosen format. A clear question gives the visit or outreach lesson something to build on before and after the session.
